Sprinly offers 100% plant-based and gluten-free fully prepared meals. It’s one of the most expensive meal delivery services, but if it fits within your budget, the quality of the ingredients makes it well worth the splurge.

Sprinly is a company that delivers delicious plant-based meals directly to your door to help make healthy living easier.

The company offers a rotating weekly menu with several vegan, gluten-free dishes to choose from, all of which are made using fresh, high quality ingredients.

The service also has multiple subscription plans available that make it somewhat flexible to fit your needs. However, with entrees costing about $16–$18 per serving, it’s not exactly cheap.

We tried Sprinly for 1 week to help you decide whether it’s a good fit for you.

Sprinly is a plant-based meal delivery service that launched in 2016. It provides nutritious, ready-to-eat vegan and gluten-free entrees.

Each week, the company delivers fresh meals that you can reheat in 3 minutes or less.

The service offers plans with 6, 12, or 18 single-serving meals per week, and you can pause, cancel, or change your plan at any time.

You can also select your meals from the company’s rotating menu to create a custom meal plan, which includes six options per week.

Sprinly makes it easy to create your own custom meal plan by choosing your favorite plant-based meals from the company’s rotating weekly menu.

Here is a closer look at how Sprinly works and how to get started.

The sign-up process

When you’re ready to place your first order, you can pick which week you’d like to schedule your first delivery and select your preferred plan.

Unlike other meal delivery services, Sprinly does not offer specific menus to choose from or options for various numbers of servings per meal. Instead, the plans include 6, 12, or 18 single-serving meals per week.

After you choose your plan, you can input your email, shipping address, payment information, and billing address.

Once you’ve checked out, you can choose your meals from the full menu to build your box.

New customers must choose their meals by 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday to receive their order the following week. Repeat customers should choose their meals by 11:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Meal selection

All Sprinly meals are vegan, gluten-free, and free of refined sugars and added preservatives. All items are also fully prepared and ready to heat and enjoy.

Each week the service offers a new menu with six plant-based dishes, each of which features a variety of nutritious ingredients.

Sprinly also allows you to select your favorite items to build a weekly menu based on your food preferences.

Here are some examples of meals the service offers:

  • Mediterranean Veggie Kofta Crumble
  • Burmese Lemongrass Noodles
  • Vegetable Tikka Masala
  • Mushroom Lentil Sliders

Items that are spicy or free of soy, oil, or nuts are labeled as such on the menu.

The service doesn’t cater to specific dietary patterns, such as keto or paleo. However, it provides an ingredient list and nutritional content for each recipe on the menu so you can find options that work for you.

All Sprinly meals are vegan and free of refined sugars and artificial preservatives, and most of the ingredients are certified organic.

Sprinly makes its meals in gluten-free facilities. That means it’s a great option for those with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

However, options may be limited for some dietary restrictions, including keto, low carb, and paleo diets.

And while Sprinly provides detailed information on the ingredients in each item on the menu, the meals are not prepared in an allergen-free facility.

Therefore, it may not be suitable for those with severe food allergies aside from gluten.

Sprinly offers several weekly plans, which vary in price:

  • 6 meals: $109 per week ($18.17 per meal)
  • 12 meals: $199 per week ($16.58 per meal)
  • 18 meals: $289 per week ($16.06 per meal)

Shipping fees, which depend on your location, are calculated at checkout.

Delivery is available throughout the contiguous United States, and deliveries occur on Tuesday or Wednesday each week.

Editor here! As someone who prefers to eat plant-based most of the time but struggles to come up with new and exciting recipes each week, I was curious to see whether Sprinly would be worth the hefty price tag.

Delivery and packaging

My meals arrived on time and in good condition.

Like most other meal delivery services, Sprinly packages its meals in recyclable cardboard boxes. However, it stands out because 100% of its packaging materials are recyclable, reusable, or compostable.

For example, the insulation is compostable and the food containers are reusable and fully recyclable.

Each entree was clearly labeled with the name of the meal, the ingredients, and relevant dietary icons such as “nut free” and “soy free.”

Here are the meals I received:

  • Sesame-Crusted Tofu with Peppers and Garlic Forbidden Rice
  • Vegetable Tikka Masala with Roasted Cauliflower and Rice
  • All-Day Sunshine Quinoa Bowl with Lemon Vinaigrette
  • Mushroom and Lentil Sliders with Herbs de Provence Home Fries
  • Pesto Pasta with Sun-Dried Tomato Cakes
  • Brunch Frittata with Walnut and Strawberry Vinaigrette Salad

Ingredient quality and freshness

Sprinly aims to use nutritious, high quality ingredients in all its meals. Entrees are prepared fresh each week to help maximize quality.

All my meals tasted incredibly fresh — even the salad greens were vibrant and not at all soggy or wilted.

While there were only six meal options, I was impressed by the wide range of vegetables, plant-based proteins, grains, herbs, spices, and seasonings provided.

According to the company, the meals are best when eaten within 5–6 days after delivery. Meals with a shorter shelf life were clearly labeled, making it easy to know which entrees to eat first.

Ease of preparation and taste

Sprinly is by far the freshest-tasting prepared meal delivery service I’ve tried yet.

All the meals were bursting with crunchy vegetables and chewy whole grains. In fact, the meals reminded me of entrees from Sweetgreen and Whole Foods.

The entrees were very lightly seasoned, but most came with flavorful sauces that elevated the flavor profile of each dish.

In particular, I loved the pineapple sauce that came with the Sesame-Crusted Tofu and the lemon vinaigrette that accompanied the All-Day Sunshine Quinoa Bowl. The pesto on the Pesto Pasta with Sun-Dried Tomato Cakes was also bright and zesty.

The only meal I didn’t love was the Mushroom and Lentil Sliders. The sliders were too dry and needed additional condiments or toppings.

Additionally, while I enjoyed the flavors and textures of the All-Day Sunshine Quinoa Bowl, I ended up adding leftover baked tofu from my fridge to help make the dish a bit more filling.

Preparing the meals was generally straightforward, though the service recommends reheating the meals on a plate or in a bowl.

I work from home, so this wasn’t an issue. However, needing to bring an extra plate or bowl makes the service less convenient for people who need to reheat their meals at school or the office.

As mentioned above, Sprinly’s meals are incredibly fresh and made with high quality ingredients.

With plans costing $16–$18 per serving, it’s more expensive than cooking your own meals at home, so it may not be ideal for budget-conscious consumers.

However, some people may find that the convenience factor and the ingredient quality make it worth the price — especially those who regularly dine out or grab lunch to go.

Still, keep in mind that the company offers fewer menu selections than many similar services and doesn’t provide options tailored to some popular dietary patterns.

Therefore, it may not be a good choice if you’re a picky eater, have severe food allergies, or have certain dietary restrictions, including if you’re following a ketogenic or paleo diet.

Sprinly has mostly positive reviews online. For example, on Yelp, the company currently holds an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, which is based on 53 customer reviews.

Many reviewers report feeling satisfied with the flavor, freshness, and selection of meals, as well as the convenience that the service offers.

Some also say that the portion sizes are generous and that most meals are very filling.

On the other hand, some reviewers dislike the high price and the fact that you’re required to order meals an entire week prior to delivery.

A few customers also say that the preparation instructions can be complicated and confusing, while others report experiencing occasional delivery issues such as missing items or incorrect orders.

Daily Harvest

Daily Harvest is a service that provides vegan, gluten-free meals that require just one step of preparation.

Like Sprinly, Daily Harvest allows you to mix and match items from the menu to customize your order each week.

Daily Harvest has a larger menu than Sprinly, offering smoothies, harvest bowls, soups, flatbreads, oat bowls, and more. However, some customers find Daily Harvest’s serving sizes to be on the smaller side.

It’s also worth noting that Daily Harvest’s items are frozen, which may be a plus if you prefer to stock up on items to keep in your freezer.

Mosaic Foods

Mosaic Foods is another company with a mission to make plant-based eating easy and enjoyable. It offers chef-crafted veggie bowls, soups, smoothies, oat bowls, and even family-size oven-ready meals.

Mosaic Foods boasts an extensive menu with a wide range of veggie bowls, pizzas, smoothies, and soups to choose from, but the menu doesn’t change each week.

While Sprinly meals are delivered fresh, the meals from Mosaic Foods are frozen, so you must reheat them in the microwave or oven.

Purple Carrot

Purple Carrot also offers plant-based meals, including an assortment of meal kits and fully prepared dishes.

As with Sprinly, you can easily customize your Purple Carrot order by selecting from the rotating menu, which includes 6–8 dinner meal kits, 8 oven-ready meals, and about 2 lunch and breakfast meal kits per week.

Compared to Sprinly, Purple Carrot is slightly more affordable, and it offers meal kits, which may be a better option for those looking to brush up on their cooking skills.

Thistle is a meal delivery service that allows you to order from a selection of breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes each week, all of which are delivered fresh and ready to enjoy.

According to Thistle’s website, the service aims to use organic and sustainably sourced products whenever possible and to provide both plant-based and meat-based variations for most items on the menu.

Where does Sprinly deliver?

Sprinly is available throughout the contiguous United States but does not currently offer delivery to Hawaii or Alaska.

How long do Sprinly meals last?

Because Sprinly meals are made fresh each week and free of artificial preservatives, the company recommends consuming most meals within 5–6 days. Items with a shorter shelf life are clearly labeled when you receive your delivery.

Certain items, such as soups and curries, can be frozen to extend their shelf life, though this may cause slight changes in quality and texture.

Sprinly is a plant-based meal delivery service that specializes in providing vegan entrees that are fresh, flavorful, and fully prepared.

Although some people may find it relatively expensive, Sprinly uses high quality, mostly organic ingredients, and all the service’s meals are free of gluten, refined sugars, and artificial preservatives.

However, Sprinly has a smaller menu than many competitors, doesn’t offer varying serving sizes, and provides limited options for some dietary patterns, so it may not be a good fit for everyone.
