The right colic vein runs parallel to the right colic artery. The colic vein drains blood out from both the right flexure and the ascending colon, which are parts of the large intestine. The right colic vein drains into the superior mesenteric vein.
Near the ascending colon, the right colic vein divides into two separate branches, one of these ascends and the other descends. The descending branch connects with the ileocolic vein's colic branch, while the other joins the middle colic artery's right branch.
