Healthline launched a new public service initiative today with the goal of giving hope and advice to those who have been recently diagnosed with MS.
“You’ve Got This” encourages people who are already moving their lives forward with MS to upload a video of themselves letting those with MS who are newly diagnosed know they are not alone and that they’ve “got this.” The videos will be posted on Healthline.com and shared with Healthline’s Living with MS Facebook page.
In addition to providing hope, participants should know that Healthline will donate $10 to the National MS Society for every video created, with a goal of donating $8,000 in total.
“Many people who are faced with a recent diagnosis of MS feel frightened and alone,” said Tracy Rosecrans, Vice President of Marketing for Healthline’s Media Group. “This initiative is meant to provide them with some hope and a feeling of community. They have a place to go to get some sound advice from those who are dealing with the disease themselves. The goal is to let them know that being newly diagnosed is the beginning of a new and different life and that they’ve got this.”
Anyone can submit a “You’ve Got This” video. To participate, record a video, ideally lasting two minutes or less. Upload the video to Youtube, and send Healthline the URL. “Speak from your heart,” Rosecrans advises, “and imagine your good friend was recently diagnosed with MS. What would you say to them to make them feel better? What do you wish you had known when you were first diagnosed?”
“We are most pleased to be a partner in You’ve Got This,” said Arney Rosenblat, Associate Vice President, Public Affairs at the National MS Society. “The initiative helps advance the Society’s mission of assisting people with MS live their best lives.”
