Getting a tattoo can be a fun way to spend a Wednesday afternoon, honor your late cat, or simply put amazing art on your body. For people living with HIV or AIDs, getting inked can mean any of these things — but it can also be a way to pay homage to their experiences living with the condition.

Whether to fight the stigma of HIV or to raise awareness, some people living with HIV are getting tattoos that are inspired by their own story.

Do you have a tattoo inspired by your experience with HIV or AIDs? Share it with us at nominations@healthline.com with the subject line “My HIV Tattoo.” It could be featured on Healthline and shared with our community!

In your submission email, please include:

  1. a clear photo of your tattoo (the larger and clearer the photo, the better!)
  2. a short description of what your tattoo means to you and/or the story behind it
  3. whether you’d like your name to be included with your submission
