Need to replace your current mattress and struggling to find room in your budget? Many mattresses can cost a pretty penny. The high price tag of most models may feel way out of reach.

This article looks at Wayfair’s line of highly affordable mattresses. The company offers some of the cheapest mattress models on the market by way of their two brands, Sleep and Nora.

Read on to take a deeper look at Wayfair’s mattress offerings.

Wayfair Sleep pros

  • Highly affordable. Wayfair’s mattress lineup is one of the cheapest on the market, with many models priced well below $500.
  • Company policies. Fast, free shipping, a 100-night trial, and a 10-year warranty are policies on par with premium mattress offerings.

Wayfair Sleep cons

  • Poor durability. A low price tag doesn’t necessarily mean a product is terrible quality, but it should give you pause. Cheap mattresses, for instance, are often less durable and may sag prematurely compared to premium models.

Reviewers say the mattress lacks edge support, something that matters if you sleep with a partner and frequently get pushed to the side of the bed. The mattress is also CertiPUR-US certified.

Wayfair Sleep 8-Inch Medium Firm Innerspring Mattress

  • Price: $
  • Mattress type: Hybrid
  • Height: 8 inches
  • Good for: Back and stomach sleepers

Reviewers who are side sleepers say they love the feel of the mattress. A few reviewers say that the firmness is a bit on the hard side, but a topper helps soften it up a bit.

While it’s very affordable, it’s only 6 inches thick, which may translate to durability issues down the line.

When you look at any product on Wayfair, mattresses included, you’ll see a shipping arrival estimate below the item’s price.

Shipping is relatively speedy — and free! There’s no option for white-glove delivery, so expect the delivery person to drop off the mattress close to your home’s entrance, on the ground level.

The mattress will arrive rolled up in a box. Reviewers say the mattress decompresses quickly.

Several customers also mention a strong off-gassing smell that lasts for a few days after unpacking. There are also some complaints about mattress delivery that involve shipping delays and poor customer service.

Mattresses come with a 100-night trial. Customers are directed to call Wayfair to return or exchange a purchase they’re unhappy with. Note that only one return or exchange is permitted per order.

According to several Trustpilot reviews (a third-party review website), mattress returns did not go smoothly. Some reviewers say they had to pay extra to return a mattress. Wayfair has a 1.5-star rating on Trustpilot.

According to the modified return policy for mattresses, the trial is risk-free and includes free returns. Products excluded from the mattress return policy include air, crib, and open box mattresses.

Wayfair is a popular home goods website. The company also has several brick-and-mortar locations throughout the United States.

Wayfair is accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and has an A+ rating. However, their rating on the BBB site from customers is 1.23 out of 5.

There are more than 2,000 complaints logged and closed within the last 3 years. Wayfair sells many kinds of home products, so most of the complaints aren’t mattress-related.

A class-action lawsuit from 2016 was filed against Wayfair alleging that the company fabricated original pricing when items were on sale. Since filing, the suit was voluntarily dismissed.

Another class-action lawsuit filed against Wayfair in 2019 alleges that the company sold customers bedding accessories that had bedbugs. Wayfair countered, arguing that they were confident they weren’t the source of the alleged infestation.

However, according to the Wayfair terms of service, the customer must take the complaint to arbitration.

There have been several product recalls for items sold by Wayfair. You can find a list of recalls here. Two crib mattresses have been recalled in the recent past.

If you’re on a budget, a Wayfair mattress is an attractive option. However, low-cost mattresses often lack the durability seen in high-priced alternatives.

Don’t expect a budget mattress to stand the test of time. That said, if you don’t want to spend a ton of money to furnish a rarely used guestroom, a mattress from Wayfair Sleep or Nora will likely do the trick.

There are other affordable mattresses to consider, too.
