Looking for a healthier noodle option to pair with your favorite entrée, soup, or even salad? Shirataki noodles are a delicious and healthy alternative.

Sometimes referred to as miracle or konjac noodles, Shirataki are made from glucomannan, a type of fiber that’s derived from the root of the konjac plant.

Glucomannan is high in viscous fiber, which can hold onto water and slow down digestion. A 4-ounce (113-gram) serving of these noodles contains between 1 to 3 grams of glucomannan.

These noodles have also been linked to a number of health benefits, including:

  • aiding in weight loss
  • reducing blood sugar and insulin levels
  • lowering cholesterol

Glucomannan has also been linked to relieving constipation in both adults and children.
