To some, the law of attraction sounds too good to be true. For, others, manifesting their dreams and desires through this “law” is a way of life.
Some say that by harnessing this purported universal power through the art of manifestation, almost anything is possible. There are even specific strategies, including the use of crystals, that may help make it happen.
While there’s no scientific evidence to support this, there are still plenty of believers. Read on to learn what proponents say about using crystals to manifest the life you want.
First things first, what exactly is manifesting?
Put simply, it’s the process of bringing your desires into reality using the law of attraction.
“The basic, most widely understood premise of the law of attraction is that thoughts become things, and what we give our focus to we see more of in our reality,” says law of attraction coach and spiritual mentor Esther McCann.
Manifesting is also something we do subconsciously. Believers say we are manifesting our realities all the time with our expectations, thoughts, and feelings.
“The law of attraction can be harnessed by developing an awareness of those thoughts, feelings, and beliefs we have and how they affect the way we are energetically showing up in this world,” says McCann.
Emma Halley, a crystal therapist and spiritual wellness coach, explains that the law of attraction is based on energetic principles.
“We know that everything in the universe is made of energy at a subatomic particle level, and our thoughts carry a vibration of their very own,” she says. “When we consider that ‘like attracts like’ the things we think about and focus on become part of the vibration we ourselves carry, and therefore attract.”
At its core, manifesting means getting into vibrational alignment with your desires.
“The key to manifesting is to create a state of mind that carries the same vibrational frequency as the life we want to live,” says Halley.
Some people use crystals to match that vibrational frequency.
Manifesting means getting into vibrational alignment with your desires.
While the law of attraction is practiced by people around the world, it’s not without its naysayers.
Some dismiss it as wishful thinking, others as complete nonsense. So, what does the science say?
Some research supports the idea that positive thinking can lead to a happier life. A 2005 research review with more than 275,000 participants found that people with “positive affect” were more likely to enjoy increased levels of success in health, work, and relationships.
A 2010 research review found that visualizing your desires as though they have been achieved, a popular manifestation practice, improved the likelihood of that desire becoming a reality.
Meanwhile, a 2016 study found that positive visualizations had the power to lessen anxiety and improve feelings of happiness.
It’s important to note that there’s no evidence that conclusively proves the existence of the law of attraction.
However, anecdotally, there’s a growing number of people who credit the law of attraction with helping them to manifest everything from increased levels of wealth and material items to improved health, new opportunities, and everything in between.
So, how can crystals help you get into vibrational alignment with the things you want?
Whether it’s attracting your soulmate, receiving more money, or improving your health, believers say there’s a crystal for that.
Crystals are said to carry potent energies that can be harnessed to influence the energy around us and within us. Some believe this can help with the manifestation process.
“Crystals are super powerful little life-forces that grow organically, the same as plants, animals, and people,” says Halley. “They carry an electric charge throughout the crystalline structure known as piezoelectricity.”
Halley believes piezoelectricity, defined as electric polarization caused by mechanical stress, influences the vibration of the crystal as well as the user on an energetic level.
While research on crystal healing is lacking, Halley suggests keeping an open mind.
“Lots of people believe that crystal therapy is a placebo. I’d like to think after 20 years in the business that I can say with some certainty that it’s far more than that,” she says. “If it improves the quality of life for a person, then why dismiss it because we can’t yet fully explain or understand it?”
Though current science doesn’t back it up, there’s no harm in giving crystal manifestation a try, especially if you keep your expectations realistic.
There are many different crystals that may help you manifest certain things in different areas of your life, according to crystal proponents.
Money and success
- Pyrite: believed to attract abundance and boost feelings of motivation in business and career
- Citrine: a popular crystal for wealth and success, nurturing creativity, inspiring ideas to generate money
- Green aventurine: known as the stone of opportunity, believed to attract aligned money-making opportunities
- Rose quartz: one of the most popular crystals for attracting love and boosting feelings of self-love
- Pink kunzite: strengthens unconditional love and loving communication
- Rhodonite: attracts love by healing emotional wounds like heartbreak
- Obsidian: helps dissolve blockages in your body, increasing circulation of energy and flow
- Quartz: known as the ‘master healer,’ brings about an optimum vibrational state for healing
- Amethyst: soothing, calming, and healing for stress, tension, and fear
Dreams and desires
- Celestite: may help you connect to the divine and helps you remember your dreams, which can be useful for emotional processing, according to McCann.
- Iron pyrite: removes feelings of inadequacy that can prevent you from accomplishing your dreams, says Halley.
- Clear quartz: can help you gain clarity on what you want and is believed to raise your vibration to match your desires.
Some common ways to use crystals for manifesting include:
- wearing them
- placing them in your home or surroundings
- meditating with them
- using them in rituals
Set an intention
Setting an intention for your crystal basically means giving it a purpose. To do this, write out your intention or say it out loud.
When setting an intention, Halley advises placing the crystal in your hand and focusing on your intention as though it’s already happened.
Setting intention with your crystals
McCann suggests the following script that can be personalized to represent your individual desires:
“Thank you for coming into my life. I’m excited to work with you and look after you. I set the intention that you support me for my highest and greatest good, to feel/manifest/receive XYZ in my life. I ask for your permission to harness your energy in my life. Thank you.”
Many people like to wear crystals as jewelry or keep them on their person throughout the day. Most popular crystals can be purchased as pendants, or you can pop one in your pocket for safe keeping.
Keep them in your surroundings
If you don’t want to wear your crystals, you can place them around your home. Both McCann and Halley are fans of doing this.
McCann suggests placing crystals in areas that correlate with your goal.
“For example, pyrite and citrine could be placed in the office where money is made. Or they can be carried in a bag or placed under a pillow at night,” she says.
Meditate with them
Combining crystals with meditation may amplify your manifesting abilities.
McCann says this is because meditating allows you to quiet resistant thoughts that can hold you back from manifesting. She also believes meditation can help you to receive divine guidance on how to move forward.
“Crystals can be used as a focal point for people practicing mindful meditation,” she says. “What we release energetically allows us to make space for new manifestations to flow into our experience.”
Remember to cleanse your crystals
Cleansing your crystals removes stagnant or unwanted energies and should be done regularly to maintain their purity.
To cleanse your crystals:
- place in a bowl of salt
- run under fresh water
- use sound healing tools like singing bowls
- place in sunlight or moonlight
- smudge with incense, sage, or palo santo
Before putting your crystal in water, check the type on the Mohs hardness scale to ensure it won’t dissolve.
Halley says not only should you be careful of wasting money on fakes when purchasing crystals, it’s also important to be aware of overmining.
“Crystals are sourced from the earth, where they can take thousands of years to grow. There is only a finite supply,” she says.
The best options for buying crystals
- small independent shops where you can see, feel, and ask questions about the product
- retailers who provide a certificate of authenticity for rare crystals like moldavite
- retailers who provide information on how their crystals are sourced, like Mystic Wolf
- retailers with realistic price points, since cheaper isn’t always better
When combined with the law of attraction, many people believe crystals can be used to manifest our dreams and desires more quickly. This is thanks to their purported vibrational energies.
Of course, not everyone believes in the power of crystals or the law of attraction, and there isn’t any scientific research that can prove they work.
However, some say that doesn’t mean you should dismiss them.
“I like to remember that there’s magic in everything, and we don’t need to know all the answers,” Halley says.
Whatever your opinion on manifesting with crystals, there’s no harm in trying it for yourself.
