This one requires a bit more time. But if you're concerned about the chemicals listed on your products, making your own lip balm at home can be a creative and healthy way to manage your beauty regimen.

You can introduce new ingredients to the basic lip balm recipe, customizing your balm with olive oil or different essential oils for uniqueness and flavor. Try this easy at-home recipe from Whole Living:

The Basics

  • 1 Tbs. beeswax pearls
  • 1 Tbs. shea butter
  • 2 Tbs. almond oil
  • 10–15 drops essential oils

  • stovetop
  • measuring spoons, measuring cup
  • tubs or containers

Melt the beeswax in a small pan. Add the shea butter and almond oil, stirring with a whisk. Once all the ingredients have melted, pour into the containers. You can create different flavors by adding 10 to 15 drops of essential oils, like peppermint, for a cool, refreshing balm.
