Our name is derived from the British English word for a person’s best or closest friend. Inspired by the transformative nature of friendship, Bezzy brings new meaning to the word “community”, we strive to cultivate a space where everyone feels seen, valued, and understood. Much like the relationship you have with your best friend, it’s a place where there is shared vulnerability, and most importantly a space where you can thrive.

What can I expect to find here?

In a word: support. We understand that your health journey is just that, your journey. So we’ve created a space where you can find the support and resources that you need. From group conversations to one-to-one messaging to medically-reviewed articles, there’s something for everyone. Here’s just a taste of what you can expect to find:

  • Learn something new every day with community-led, text-based live chats.
  • Gain advice from those who have been there before with one-to-one messaging.
  • Discover curated medical resources from a library of content.
  • A Guide that can help you through it all. You can quickly identify the Guide by the badge next to her username.

What is a live chat?

Live chats are constructed just like every other text-based conversation in our app, except they’re live, in-the-moment conversations. They’re our way of getting the community together to discuss a relevant issue to your condition. Led by the Guide, topics can range from treatments to symptom management to wellness, and even something fun like a pop quiz—don’t worry, you won’t be graded!

So whether you’re just coming to watch or to be a participant and ask some questions, you’ll always learn something new, and you might even meet some members in the process.

Do live chats involve video?

No. All of our live chats are text-based conversations.

When and where do live chats take place?

Live chats take place every Sunday through Thursday at 5:00 pm PT/8:00 pm ET in the Live Discussions group.

Can I view a live chat after it’s finished?

Yes! Just like all group conversations, live chats will always remain in the app. The Guide starts every live chat, so to find our most recent, head to the Live Discussions group and scroll up to the appropriate date to see what we call the “intro post.” Tap on that post to dive into the chat thread.

Interested in a particular topic? Then head to the search icon at the top of your screen (Note: It’s the magnifying glass). From there, you can search for any keyword with the Groups filter to find a post or live chat that interests you.

What does it mean to report or block a member?

Reporting and blocking play an essential role in maintaining our community’s safety, though they function a bit differently. Here’s what performing each of these actions will do:

  • Reporting a member will notify the Bezzy team—we recommend this action if you believe the member has violated our Community Guidelines. After further review, the Bezzy team may ban the reported member from the community at its discretion.
  • Blocking a member will NOT notify the Bezzy team but will instead block this member from messaging you and seeing your posts in the groups. Conversely, you will also not be able to see this person’s posts.

How can I report a member who’s violated the Community Guidelines?

Here’s how to report a member from your direct messages:

  • Tap on the 3 dots at the top right of your screen.
  • Choose “Report & Block Member” on the dropdown (Note: By reporting and blocking the member, you are alerting the Bezzy team to bad behavior as well as blocking the member from messaging you further).

Here’s how to report a member from the forums:

  • Tap on the member’s profile icon.
  • Choose “Report & Block Member” on the dropdown (Note: By reporting and blocking the member, you are alerting the Bezzy team to bad behavior).

How can I block a member from messaging me?

Blocking without reporting a member who is exhibiting bad behavior is not advised as it will not alert the Bezzy team to the issue. However, if a member has not violated the Community Guidelines but you still wish to prevent him or her from messaging you and seeing your posts, then blocking is a suitable option.

Here’s how to block a member from messaging you and seeing your posts:

  • From the forums: Tap on the member’s profile icon.
  • Choose “Block” on the dropdown
  • From direct messages: Tap on the 3 dots at the top right of your screen.
  • Choose “Block” on the dropdown
