The top three hospital systems according to the U.S. News rankings include Mayo Clinic Phoenix, Banner Boswell Medical centers located in Sun City, and Banner-University Medical Center Phoenix. Mayo Clinic is ranked the number one hospital in Arizona with two main campuses about 14 miles apart, in Phoenix and Scottsdale, and includes primary and pediatric care clinics serving the community. Other healthcare systems include Banner Health and Dignity Health, both providing various specialty, primary, and urgent care locations through the larger Phoenix area. Phoenix is fortunate to have a designated children's hospital, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, a 381-bed acute care children’s hospital affiliated with the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Veterans in the area have access to the Phoenix VA Health Care System which includes the Carl T. Hayden Veterans’ Administration Medical Center and nine community-based outpatient clinics. The University of Arizona College of Medicine is the only medical school in the Phoenix area.
