They say the sincerest form of flattery is imitation. But in my book, there's nothing more flattering than having a high-end fashion handbag named after you.

Yes! The wonderful folks at Myabetic have just released their fourth Diabetes Community namesake product -- this one named after Yours Truly, the Amy Diabetes Handbag.

Made of premium vegan leather and with a Kate Spade look to it (if you ask me!), the bag is designed with more than enough room for lifestyle items (wallet, keys, glasses, makeup, etc.) and features a center “diabetes section" that contains a removable insert to organize all your diabetes supplies.

It's now available in four chic colors: Black, Shadow Gray, Bay Blue, and Rose Red.

Diabetes Community Namesake Bags

Founder of Santa Monica, CA-based Myabetic is Kyrra Richards, who's been living with T1D herself since 2008. She and her young team are on a mission to transform the image of diabetes" with beautiful, versatile bags that are designed with diabetes in mind, but can hold their own in the world of high fashion.

A few years ago, she had the brilliant idea to name their new designs after stand-out advocates in our Diabetes Community. First came the Cherise Diabetes Handbag, named after founder of Diabetes Social Media Advocacy #DSMA, Cherise Shockley. Next came the Kerri Diabetes Tote, honoring popular blogger and advocate Kerri Sparling. And a few weeks ago -- somewhat under the radar -- came the Manny Diabetes Triple Zip, a compact organizer named after beloved advocate and former founder of the Diabetes Hands Foundation Manny Hernandez.

And now... the Amy Diabetes Handbag! So excited!!

"Actually, all of our diabetes bags and cases are named after individuals who have contributed to the diabetes community. Like many luxury fashion brands, we wanted to provide names to give our accessories distinct personalities. It seemed only fitting to pay tribute to all the wonderful people who have worked hard to improve life with diabetes," Kyrra says.

(In case you're wondering what I did to deserve this honor, here's some background on my , dating back to 2005 when I launched DiabetesMine.)

"We wanted a classic, everyday carry-all shoulder bag to round out our handbag collection. We have fabulous crossbody bags and a large tote bag, and now the Amy is a perfect happy-medium. Our customers love the ability to hold their diabetes supplies and lifestyle necessities in one beautiful accessory. It’s special to have a product that was specifically designed to make living with diabetes easier," Kyrra explains.

She says that later this year, they have plans to announce more product categories and items beyond their signature diabetes bags and cases -- diabetes greeting cards, logbooks, notebooks, T-shirts, and patches.

Great, but personally, I'm all about the Amy Handbag with its big, open side pockets and easy-grab cell phone slot! ;)
