In this annual scholarship program, we seek 10 activated patients who wish to attend and participate in our DiabetesMine Innovation Summit held each fall at Stanford School of Medicine in Palo Alto, CA.

Our winners act as "delegates" for the patient community, expressing our needs and desires to the Powers That Be: pharma industry and regulatory leaders, health insurance execs, clinicians, entrepreneurs, health tech experts, the country's largest clinics and national advocacy organizations and more.

This year's Summit will take place on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014. Our contest winners are awarded funding to cover airfare, two nights in a hotel, and a meal budget for attending the Innovation Summit.

Please review the contest rules & info about selection committee here.

"The DiabetesMine Innovation Summit provided me with an unmatched opportunity to interact with the most influential people in the Shara_Bialo_Headshotdiabetes technology realm. Living day-in and day-out with this disease can shape very strong opinions, and the ability to express those opinions to the people that can concretely change things for the better is priceless. This is one of the most exciting and novel platforms for patient advocates to voice their concerns, suggestions, and questions and actually be heard."

"The experience of participating in the Diabetes Innovation Summit was both invigorating and empowering. As a person juliebw03182012with diabetes, it felt good to see the brain trust of people working on our behalf, and to have our voices be heard to influence future care, innovation and options for us as people first, patients a distant second! Attend to learn, but expect to contribute, think and leave with new connections that can help make a difference."

"Attending the DiabetesMine Summit allowed me to participate in an exciting conversation Melissa Lee - smallbetween industry innovators, advocacy leaders, insurance executives, FDA representatives, and the tech geniuses who are doing fascinating things with our data and devices. When we come together and talk honestly about barriers to innovation and access, remarkable conversations can happen."

"Going to the Innovation Summit helped open the doors to be part of the community of people who are working fiercely to shift the state of things in diabetes technology. Both years I attended, I learned a ton, and developed meaningful relationships with people I now work with. It's an incredible gathering of people from all sides of diabetes — finally together in one room."Sara Krugman

"I was very fortunate to attend the DiabetesMine Innovation Summit in 2013. There were so many opportunities to learn about up and coming changes to the way the diabetes technology is used, how insurance carriers view diabetes and technology and how others obtain and Michele Evans use their data to benefit their health. I'm glad I could attend!"

Michelle Evans — 2013 winner
