There's no shortage of smartphone apps available for logging your diabetes data -- at least 1,100 in the iTunes store, according to industry observers. It's tough to know if any of them bring any real value to our lives.

That's why we invite real PWDs (people with diabetes) to review these apps and other products in our DiabetesMine Test Kitchen, where they can share their in-the-trenches experiences.

Today, we've just added a video review of the dLife Diabetes Companion app by 21-year-old college student Greg Weintraub, a senior at The New School in NYC who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 8 in 2001.

Given that dLife is a longstanding online community and syndicated TV show about life with diabetes, you'd have to assume they have a good idea of what we want in an app.
