Healthline Contributing Writer Moira McCarthy is a Massachusetts based award-winning news reporter, magazine feature writer, and author. After spending a decade and a half covering crime and politics, McCarthy split her time between writing about travel, adventure and skiing for both SKI magazine and the Boston Herald and covering health topics for a variety of outlets. She’s been awarded the National Newspaper Association Feature Story of the year multiple times, Associated Press’s national news coverage award and both the Mitch Kaplan Award and Harold S. Hirsch Award for excellence in ski journalism. A passionate advocate for Type 1 Diabetes, she was named the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s International Volunteer of the year. When she’s not learning and writing about health news, she’s skiing, playing tennis, riding her bike really far, bragging about her granddaughters or hanging out at the beach.
