Intrathecal medicines are delivered via a drug pump and tubing to the fluid-filled space around your spinal cord. They may be helpful for those with severe, chronic pain, or muscle spasms due to multiple sclerosis or spinal cord diseases. The pump is a small disk and catheter with a battery which is implanted under the skin.
