Stomach Stapling Surgery Transcript

« back to video

The goal of stomach stapling is to make the stomach smaller. You feel full quicker, so you eat less, which leads to weight loss. A surgical procedure is performed, which involves creating a smaller pouch from the larger stomach. A vertical double row of staples is placed just below where the esophagus enters the stomach. A plastic band may be added to restrict the size of the inlet to the rest of the stomach.
