If you are at risk for bladder cancer, what can you do? The best thing you can do is try to avoid as many of the risks as possible.

You may want to start out by making a list of all your risk factors. Then decide which risk factors you can control. For example, if you smoke, you can lower your risk by quitting smoking.

When you quit smoking, you’ll greatly reduce your risk of getting many other cancers as well. These include cancers of the lung, kidney, pancreas, mouth, esophagus, pharynx, and larynx, which is your voice box. There are many ways to quit smoking. If you want to quit, talk with your doctor about creating a plan to stop.
