We found a cutting-edge procedure to reverse those ugly blue veins that cause some people a lifetime of embarrassment, take a look. Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian: In my office I see a lot of spider and varicose veins on women over the age of 30. Varicose veins are the bulging blue, gray veins that pop out of the skin on the thigh or leg. Spider veins are the smallest vessels. This is an ideal varicose vein and spider vein pattern for a technique called foam sclerotherapy in which we inject a small amount of a very potent chemical into the spider vein and it will basically eradicate and destroy the vein network right in front of our eyes. We’re done with the sclerotherapy injection and this is one of the reasons why people love this treatment, it’s safe, effective and you can see the results right in front of you. Dr. Travis Stork: Sabrina is here with us today along with Dr. Karamanoukian to explain how this amazing procedure works. Thank you so much, well for being here. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Welcome. Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian: Thank you. Dr. Travis Stork: So a pretty exciting stuff because this is foam that you’re injecting in the veins. Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian: In the essence, foam sclerotherapy, we actually mix the solution into a foam or a microbubble emulsion before we inject it into the spider and varicose veins. The most amazing thing is that you can see it right in front of your eyes, patients are amazed and the results were almost instantaneous. Right after the procedure, we have patient with some compression, and they go home and that’s it. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Now, given that not all veins are the same, the great thing about this treatment you can use it for larger veins and for smaller veins, correct? Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian: Absolutely. And it’s one of the most gratifying things I’ve ever seen for patients because they can see it right in front of their eyes. Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: And how does it work for you Sabrina? Sabrina: It was fantastic. I saw my spider veins disappear right in front of my eyes. Each injection lasted less than 30 seconds and there was actually no pain. I was expecting it to burn or sting and it was completely — Dr. Andrew P. Ordon: Just one treatment or — Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian: Well, for that particular vein cluster, it was one treatment. She doesn’t need anymore. But everybody has a varying degree of spider and varicose veins, so we’ll probably bring her back for other sessions to do other areas. Dr. Travis Stork: And we have another great side by side of varicose veins and then after treatment which it really is remarkable when you look at the difference in those photos. And this is using the foam sclerotherapy, right? Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian: There’s a combination of things, foam sclerotherapy and other procedures, surgical procedures, but they can basically collapse any vein of any caliber. Dr. Travis Stork: But not the only option, a lot of options out there when it comes to varicose veins. But I’ve seen some great results with this. Thank you both so much, we appreciate it.
