Dr. Larry Scherwitz, my husband, and I conducted research on what optimal eating is and what we did to figure this out is we explored what and how, with whom, where, why people ate for thousands of years based on Eastern healing systems that include nutrition such as Ayurveda from India, traditional Chinese medicine, Tibetan medicine. We looked at world religions which served as guidelines for how to eat prior to Western nutritional science in the early 1900s. And we also looked at Western nutritional science, and we put all of this together, and what we discovered when we stepped back from all this is that there are six key guidelines to optimal eating. And we discovered, when we drilled in further into this, that there are seven key overeating styles, and the antidote to the overeating styles is the Enlightened Diet. So the Enlightened Diet is how to eat optimally for wellness and to achieve a natural, optimal weight without dieting.
