Host: What is the most important thing for adoptive parents and birthparents to understand? Sarah Mejac: Well, I think the most important thing both for the birthmother and the birth family or the adoptive parents is that the best interests of this child are the first priority. That it is, why they were all involved in this process as a birthparent, as a birthmother you may feel that it's not the right time for you to be a parent and take that responsibility on; you may feel that there are serious reasons in your life that preclude you from being a good parent. On the other hand, if you are family that really desires to be parents that you will find the child that you will be matched with a child that will help you realize that dream as well and that s what the beauty of adoption is, is that while it serves a need for both the adoptive family and the birthmother, it's really for the best of the child that the birthmother is trying to give him the best life possible and the adoptive family is trying to give him the best life possible.
