When I am helping women in my clinical practice with type 2 diabetes, we really focus on healthy diet as the cornerstone of treatment for diabetes and by healthy diet I mean whole foods diet that includes lots of fresh vegetables, fruits to some degree, whole grains, legumes, nuts, foods that we can recognize in their natural state. Exercise is important and stress management is hugely important and understanding those behaviors that lead to high stress, unhealthy eating behaviors, not having time to exercise. Understanding those behaviors and helping women deal with those behaviors is a big part of our approach.
