We are now going to work the triceps. The exercise we will be performing is called the triceps stretch. Stretches the back of the arm. By the way I have been focusing on a total approach to stretching. We focused on the quadriceps stretch for the lower body, the chest shoulder stretch for the upper body and now the triceps stretch for the back of the arm. Cathy is going to place her right arm behind her head. The elbow is pointing directly up behind the head, she takes the opposite hand places it on the elbow and presses down. She presses down enough to feel a gentle stretch through the triceps area. Perfect, now the opposite arm, very important point make sure that elbow is behind your head so it should not be off to the side. Right behind your head because that is how you are really going to feel it. Take your opposite hand on the elbow, press down until you feel a gentle stretch, do not over stretch we want to avoid injury. Another very important point Cathy’s posture. Nice and straight, she is not leaning forward, she is not bending back. It is perfect for her, keep your breathing nice and natural we can never forget about that. As perfect form what want you to do is perform a 30 seconds on each side of the body, so it is two sets on each side. This is called the one arm triceps stretch.
