Hi! I am Dr. John Minichetti. I am a general dentist. Today's video is about current trends and techniques in implant surgery and I am a diplomat with the American Board of Oral Implantology and I have been practicing implant dentistry for over 20 years. Some of the current trends that you'd like to look at when you are choosing a dental implant course or what you'll see out there in the main podium nowadays and certainly we'll start with the field of diagnosis. CT scan diagnosis is very important. Reading CAT scans, treatment planning with CAT scans, evaluating bone quantity and even preparing for implant surgery with CT technology is something that you'd like to look at as a current trend in our implant courses. Next is obviously augmentation techniques or bone grafting techniques. There is a slew of bone grafting augmentation materials out there and the clinician really needs to learn what works and what's the different properties and what's the different indications for each one, but that's certainly a big growing field in implant dentistry preparing the sites for our implants. Next of course is aesthetic issues. We talk about zirconium parts or porcelain parts and zirconium crowns and new frameworks and milling and computer-guided restorations or computer-milled restoration, this is certainly one of the trends in implant dentistry that we see here, implant treatment that we see today and then lastly we can even talk about orthodontic treatment. We use the tads and mini-pins and of course it's immediate load or immediate implantation. There is certain issues and today we are talking about same day teeth, etc. techniques with that, so that's obviously out hot and 20 topic in implants. It's important for the clinician to evaluate which treatments are just going to be a trend for now or those that they are going to last longer and it's really revolutionary field then we are looking forward to the journey with you.
