The treatment for inflammatory breast cancer is initial chemotherapy, seeing what the result of that is, then some sort of surgery. Occasionally, believe it or not, we can actually conserve the breast if the response to the chemotherapy is dramatic where not only the redness of the breast goes away, but the actual main mass dramatically decreases in size. Historically, had always been a mastectomy, but now with our better chemotherapies, there are some patients who are actually saving the breast on them.
