Toe tensing technique is a from of progressive muscle relaxation. Progressive muscle relaxation is when we alternately tighten and relax specific muscle groups. Often times when we talk about how to reduce stress, we talk about the benefit of relaxing muscles. However, when muscles are chronically held, it can be hard to tell the difference between a tense muscle and a relaxed one. So when you do toe tensing, your going to tense your toes for ten seconds and relax your toes for ten seconds. And there are two ways to tense your toes. You can tense your toes towards your body, and you can also crunch them in towards your foot. Toe tensing is a great way to relax at the end of a long day, and you can even do it in bed right before you fall asleep.
