Hi, welcome to mommy matters. I'm Shannon with babyessentials.com here today to talk to you about travel tips when you're traveling with kids. This is essential. There are a lot of things to think about when you're traveling with kids and it can be daunting. So, let’s start off with—you really want to try and think ahead and imagine what’s going on, whether you're traveling by plane, you're in the car, you're going for one day, you're going for a week. You want to kind of think through all the different scenarios and have a plan. That said, you got to roll with the punches. So, you want to know when it's time to enforce the schedule that you have at home and when to let loose a little bit and maybe nap schedule changes when you're on the fly. The other thing about being prepared for whatever it's about to come your way is to think through what products you might want to bring from home but balancing that with the space that you have. Whether you're paying for checked baggage or you're in the car and you are going to grandma’s but only have limited space. So, think ahead about what you can bring with you that will make your life easier. A tip from a plane to bring one new toy for very hour you're on the plane. Now I heard this and I immediately thought I don’t want to go out and buy a whole bunch of new toys but what you can do is find things your child hasn’t played with in some times kind of squirm them away a week before travel to ensure that they look new when they’re on the trip. That or hit the dollar store, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy but just something new to kind of keep their attention and get you through the tough spots. This is the also the time to maybe let go of the rules that you have at home whether that means you let them have the lollipop on the plane that you wouldn’t have let them have at home. It kind of gets o through that last 20 minutes when you're trying to keep them from making your neighbors crazy on the plane. And finally and important tip o keep to your own sanity is to know when to enforce with the people that are on the trip with you that things need to go a certain way. For example, if nap time is come and go and your child is looking like they are really about to lose their mind and they’re in for a real tantrum, you might know that it's time that you need to carry up some timeout for just viewing and your child. Take them aside and kind of deal with the situation. Not everybody on the trip is going to be onboard with this decision but there are times when you just kind of have to be the enforcer. So, I hope this is helpful information. For more information on traveling with your child, visit babyessentials.com. Thanks and have a great day.
