Male Speaker 1: And it is a great question a lot of parents have it. When to worry about a cough in a younger baby well, first I know because coughs can be whether it could be a cold or it could be something more serious like pneumonia or some other type of lung infection. So, one of the biggest indicators I use instead of how it sound is because different people cough differently even if it is just a cold, you know it could be a croupy cough even though its not croupe. So, it’s more how frequent the cough is. If the child is coughing every minute or two or even every few seconds for a while you know that’s a lot more worrisome regardless of how this cough sound. So, when to call the doctor? It’s certainly if any new born is coughing somewhat frequently up to about a couple of months old you should call your doctor because it’s really hard to tell in a newborn. If your child is having hard time breathing, breathing faster the normal or looking like they are having to work to breathing. Male Speaker 2: Labor breathing. Male Speaker 1: Labor breathing, exactly, or having long spells of coughing, they are basically loosing their breath because they are coughing so hard, definitely call the doctor if there is a high fever or the child is acting weak, lethargic things like that then definitely call your doctor. Male Speaker 3: Do you define me I had a fever, because most cases you has a cough or have fever. Male Speaker 1: So, over one or two in a younger like under one year old over two month old or somewhere in there generally its good idea to call the doctor, because of the cough. Yeah, you’re right good point. Fever above 100 or 101 is probably still a call. So, what you’re going to do about your cough certainly it’s I always talk about getting steamed up, have the vapors are going in the bedroom, get in the bathroom close your doors, turn on the shower turning bathroom into a steam room and sit with your child and clap on their back and I call that you know doing some good steam chest therapy. If your baby is over a year old, honey is a great cough suppressant, nasal ceiling, I call it hosing of the nose, I can flush out all that mucous sits in there, I am a lot of over the counter cough remedies are no good for under age four now that are not safe so but these are the couple of the good ones, my favorite one is the Hyland’s cough syrup, it’s a homeopathic remedy, it’s safe for kids two and above. So, that’s a good one. Male Speaker 2: And it’s safe for kids well above two because -- Male Speaker 1: Yes. Male Speaker 2: When I had a cough, I come in from a show and this is sitting on my desk. Yeah, I gave this is too enough. Male Speaker 1: I said, yeah Davens try it, yeah I use this stuff when I get a cold and then it takes the edge of.
