Veronica Delfino: It's all about the relationship between the driver and car. Hi, I am Veronica Delfino, WatchMojo.com, and today we are going to discuss come factors to consider before using your car. We hear a lot now about Hybrid cars. Can you tell us a little bit more about that? Douglas Labelle: The Hybrid car generally is a vehicle with two engines. One is electric and the other one is the traditional internal combustion engine or gas engine or diesel engine. It translates in two ways; fuel economy which is generally between 15 and 20%. Veronica Delfino: So with all this technology, are they really cost effective, the Hybrids? Douglas Labelle: Generally, the extra cost is between 5,000 and 10,000 dollars, and considering the energy that we can save, it's still not very cost effective. As the manufacturers will produce more and more of these Hybrids, the extra cost will come down and eventually will be cost effective. Veronica Delfino: So after you invest this money in your new car, what's the best way to maintain it and still use less gas? Douglas Labelle: Look at the car, regularly, I mean personally. Every week check the tires, eventually buy tire gauge; it costs between $10 and $15, so you check the air pressure. We encourage to use nitrogen instead of air, its a more constant gas, it will corrode less the tire rim. Change the air filter regularly and do a regular maintenance at the proper dealer. Veronica Delfino: You also mentioned keep track of your records, what do you mean by this? Douglas Labelle: It's to keep the gas receipts, and divide the amount of fuel that you have used by the number of kilometers that you have done. This will give you a good indicator of the performance of your vehicle. Veronica Delfino: With someone who has an average budget, what car would you suggest they purchase? Douglas Labelle: Any subcompact car is a good buy, but the ones coming from Asia are very good, so that would be my recommendation.
