My reaction was well, of course, you heard the big “C”, Cancer, and when the doctor actually told me that I had thyroid cancer, he said, “If you’re going to have cancer, this is the best cancer you can have.” And if you ask any other cancer survivor of thyroid cancer, that is the worst thing in the world to say to a person because I’d much rather give it to somebody else than to have it on my own. I wasn’t afraid because actually, I didn’t know much about the thyroid at the time. It wasn’t something you think about like breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer. Thyroid cancer was okay. What do we do? And the doctor assured me that all we do is just take out your thyroid and you’ll be fine. So there wasn’t really a fear of life and death situation.
