Travis Stork: Hi ladies, so it's the middle of the day, you feel like getting your nails done. Well, you better pay attention to this message from Dr. Lawrence Piro before you make your next appointment. Dr. Lawrence Piro: The sun isn't the only place you can find damaging UV rays, you can find it right near local nail salon. Nail drying lamps emit dangerous UV rays which can penetrate the skin, it's like a tanning bed for your hands. A recent study has linked these kinds of machines in the development of skin cancer on the back of your hands. Bottom line, ladies: Don't put your hands under those nail drying lights. But if you really must, lather them gorgeously with a high SPF, chemical-free sunscreen before you put your hand where your hands just don't belong.
