A recent study in the United Kingdom indicates that people who are obese and drink heavily are much more likely to have liver failure than their slim counterparts who drink the same amount of alcohol. We already know that being obese causes damage to the liver, so adding the effects the heavy alcohol consumption to that cannot be good. I think the take home message from this study is something we probably already know that we should maintain a healthy weight and drink in moderation.
