The Medlite System for Laser Tattoo Removal The Medlite laser tattoo removal can be used on any type of skin. That’s what the advantage to this particular laser is. We can use it on dark skin as long as the pigment we are removing is darker than the skin. The way the Medlite works is the laser beam passes through the top layer of skin and is attracted to the darker pigment below and when it hits that darker pigment it actually heats that pigment up and breaks it apart. Tattoo pigment is so big that the particles when placed under the skin don’t get removed by the body because they are too big for the cells to eat and take away. When we use the laser light to hit that ink it breaks the ink particles apart into very small little pieces and then the body can come and actually eat that and can take it away. So that’s how we get rid of these particles of ink and get rid of the tattoo. Because we are working on removing those ink particles almost layer-by-layer it takes multiple sessions to remove a tattoo. The darker the tattoo, the more ink placed, the longer it will take to remove. And we like to wait anywhere from four to six weeks in between each tattoo removal session so that we are able to allow the body to eat up the ink that’s been broken up. So if you can imagine, ink when placed in the skin with the tattoo needles machine, it will go in at different layers and drop little bits of ink in the skin. When it drops little bits of ink in the skin it does it in layer after layer after layer and so the tattoo laser will actually hit that top layer, get blocked by it but break it apart. The body will come and eat that away and then the next layer will be taken and taken after that and taken after that. So we watch the tattoos literally fade in color and in depth. The most interesting thing about the Medlite tattoo laser removal is that we are able to do different colors of ink. Many different lasers don’t allow us to do much more than the black or dark blue inks. The Medlite laser actually allows to do pinks and sky blues and greens. There’s different hand pieces that go on the laser that let us use different wavelengths that penetrate deeper into the tissues and also the pigment that’s there is attracted by different colored wavelengths. So the Medlite is the best machine on the market, by far.
