The Importance of Studying Meteorite Components British chemical scientists say extra terrestrial molecules found in meteorites may hold where the keys to the origin of life on earth. This research was inspired by a 1992 — identifying a type of phosphorus called phosphonates in a meteorite which crashed on earth. It confirmed that these have been created interstellar space. Meteorite activity and the components and structure of meteors and comets remain a great interest. Teams had leads in graphic universities are trying to reproduce the exotic molecules of these systems. The aim is to provide the first direct chemical link between phosphorus compounds found within interstellar gas clouds and those incorporated within solar system meteorites. At one level, the work is providing more and more knowledge about meteors and their connection with earth. At another level, this work could just provide a major clue, possibly a link to the origin of life in this planet.
