Dr. William McCarthy: Hello! I'm doctor William McCarthy, medical director of the NOVA ABC, weight loss clinic at Woodbridge, Virginia. Today we're going to be talking about weight loss and specifically answering questions about the role of diet in weight loss. Speaker: How important is dieting in losing weight? Dr. William McCarthy: It very difficult to loss weight without making some type of alternation of the nutritional intake. Even with bariatric surgery, which is one of the forms of treatment for weight loss. Alterations have to be made in the body so that the foods that come in to the body are going to lesser altered. Also we know from people that have bariatric surgery if they don't change the diet they are going to regain their weight. So diet is truly essential in any weight loss program. Some alternation needs to be made.
