Raena Morgan: Hello, we’re visiting with Dr. Stuart Reeves, the Director of Research and Development at Embria Health Sciences. Dr. Reeves, we’re talking about EpiCor. Now, the worker in the plant—was there just one supplement that was being manufactured, or was there more than one thing that was causing them to have such a good immune response? Dr. Stuart Reeves: There were several products being manufactured in the plant at the time— several animal products. What we had to do was develop a production method and a specialized fermentation and drying technology that would take the parts of those products that were affecting the animal’s immune system and produce something that would affect the human immune system, and furthermore, something that could be taken in small, regular doses and have a positive, long term effect. Raena Morgan: Is there a recommended dosage for the workers? Dr. Stuart Reeves: For human beings—for EpiCor—we suggest 500 milligrams a day. That’s basically one small capsule every day. And, it’s something that has a long term effect. It takes a few weeks for its effect to be fully established and if you stop taking it the effect goes away. So, basically, it’s a capsule a day, 12 months a year. Raena Morgan: Do you recommend that all of the employees at Embria take EpiCor? Dr. Stuart Reeves: We don’t recommend. We do, however, supply it free to all the employees. And, obviously most of them take advantage of this because within the company it’s known that we are getting good health benefits from it. In fact, there are other local companies that have contacted us through their worker’s wellness programs to ask about the benefits, and whether they should be taking it? And, the companies love it because it has the potential of reducing their health insurance. Raena Morgan: Well, that’s pretty exciting! Dr. Stuart Reeves: Oh yes! One of the things that was most exciting for the company about this was the financial savings that could be accrued through exposure to this product. And not only finance, your workers are healthier, your workers are happier—there’s less disruptions over the course of a year. Raena Morgan: Well, thank you Dr. Reeves. We’ll visit again.
