The Dangers of K2 Synthetic Marijuana Dr. Travis Stork: It’s called K2. This is a synthetic drug, 10 times more potent than THC. That is the ingredient in marijuana that gives people their high and we actually sent our production assistant to buy this legal drug and she was able to do it without an ID. Female: We’re here outside the shop that sells K2. You are supposed to be over 18 to buy it but I'm going to go in there without my ID and see if they will sell it to me. I went in there and I bought it. They didn’t ask for an ID, no questions. Here it is, $90.00 of K2. Dr. Travis Stork: So this is going to give you hallucinations. Some people have bad reactions, vomiting, agitation. The other dangers are we don’t even know what chemicals are sprayed on this. People who are smoking -- it’s completely unregulated and it’s more potent than marijuana. This stuff scares me and what really scares me. Kristina, if I could go to you is the kids used sometimes these “legal drugs” and then of having them as a gateway to other types of drugs. Kristina Wandzilak: They do and you know as somebody that specialized in addiction for the last 15 years I don’t necessary believe in gateway drugs. A drug is a drug is a drug in the brain system and any exposure on the developing brain to substances has profound effects on the developing personality and emotional aspects of the individual and that’s -- the other thing that concerns me also is that we live in such an outward focus society and we have a generation of young people that are always reaching for the outside to fix something on the inside having troubles, soft regulating. They’re on emotion--
