Hi, I'm Dr. Archelle Georgiou and I'm a healthcare consultant that works with people with media through my consulting and through my website to help them be better consumers of healthcare and to be empowered patients. An empowered patient is someone who really believes that they are in-charge of their healthcare. It means that they're educated about what conditions they have, how to take care of themselves. They ask questions. They’re not afraid to be a partner with their doctor about what their treatment plan is or how to get the best quality care. so an empowered patient doesn’t mean that they're on their own making their own diagnosis but rather they're perfectly comfortable being a partner with clinical professionals and the healthcare system to make sure they get the best care that they possibly can.
