What I personally do and my wife does is that we take a 1000 units of vitamin D. We take a multivitamin that contains 400 units of vitamin D, and I usually drink on average, two to three glasses of milk a day, which is another 300 units of vitamin D a day. So my total intake and my family’s intake, on average, is about 1800 to 2000 units a day, and our blood levels are about 40 to 50 nanograms per ml, which is just where we’d like to be.
