Testing Glucose Level While Wearing an Insulin Pump I’m afraid to say that this particular pump does not keep track of what my blood glucose levels are. I still have to use a glucometer and so I do the finger sticks. I’ve got bruises. I test a lot. And anyone out there listening to this, please, please remember, you don’t test just once a day. You need to know what’s going on, especially if you’re exercising. Oh my goodness, I test sometimes eight times a day. There are devices out there that are compatible with the pump that’s sort of technology, that will give you your blood glucose reading. But I don’t have that technology yet, so I still do my regular test. I always test before I exercise. I always test if I’m doing a run that’s going to be longer than an hour. I carry -- I wear a fanny pack, I carry my glucometer with me. I test during the running time, to see if I'm in the good place with my blood sugar levels. And I carry all kinds of energy types of food -- glucose tablets, the jellybeans that are made for sports, people running and other sports and things that other sporting companies put out to keep fuel onboard. So I have my glucometer with me and I have replacement calories or energy things with me as well.
