Tending to Breast Cancer Patient During Radiotherapy The team that’s assembled in the treatment of breast cancer is larger than probably for almost any other disease that patients go through. Most patients with breast cancer, of course have their primary doctor who often sends them to a breast surgeon. And then they have an oncologist, the medical oncologist, and the radiation oncologist. And within the radiation oncology team there is also the radiation oncology nurse and the radiation oncology therapist who deliver the daily treatment. It’s a very well integrated, one can say, a very well oiled machine for making sure patients feel and cared for at every step of the way throughout their radiation, their chemotherapy, and their surgery. And there’s no other form of cancer I could think of where the parts of the team work so closely to make sure the treatment is personalized and tailor-made for each individual patient’s cancer.
