Taking a Friend to the Doctors During Cancer Consultations Yes, absolutely I think it’s scary for one to go alone because you're just dealing with some emotional stuff. But also you have a hard time retaining information because you're so overwhelmed. There's so much to learn all of a sudden you got this thing and it’s not like you know all about it, you know I mean you got cancer and there's a lot to know about it. And you have to make decisions very quickly. And you want to know what your making a decision is about. You are kind of in shock so it’s hard to be very rational. So it was really helpful to have somebody go with me. My husband went to a couple of appointments with me and the ones that he couldn’t get to are normal check ups.
