Amanda Junker: Crunches are the only move that flatten your belly. Research shows that even basic lower body moves are a great way to strengthening your core and helps flattening your abs. Maximize the belly flattening power of basic moves by adding weights and by adding a balance challenge. Here is how to work your abs while you lunge. Start with your feet, hip with apart dumbbell at your shoulders, palms facing forward. Then step your right foot back about 2 feet and then both knees lowering until your left side is about parallel to the floor with your knee over your ankle. Press into your left foot and then stand up and pull your right knee forward as you press the weights over head. Now without touching the floor swing your right leg back into the lunge position as you lower the weights back down. These variations make your abs work extra hard just to keep you up right.
