What Are The Concerns About Sun Block And Vitamin D? Howard Steinman: Alright there is a concern among Research Scientist that if you wore a sunscreen everybody that you’re going to block out the Ultraviolet light and your body needs Ultraviolet light striking the skin to make Vitamin D that you need for strong bones and for certain other immune functions in your skin. It’s now felt that 10 minutes or less of you know morning sunlight is more that enough to give you that amount of sunlight you need to make the Vitamin D you need. All of the worry about the Vitamin D and the bad effect you can get for using sunscreen or a mice and an rats they were done theoretically and there is no hard evidence that wearing a sunscreen everybody is going to cause any significant harm to the Vitamin D levels in your system.
