Staying Active During a Multiple Pregnancy Well generally speaking, we want women to continue to be mobile and participating in their normal lifestyle to what degree they can when they are pregnant, even with multiples. One of the things that guides how much activity is allowed is ultrasound surveillance of her cervix, and we can see if her cervix is having premature shortening or early shortening even before she presents with preterm contractions. So if we see early shortening of the cervix, we may restrict her activity more. Short of that, they usually can still drive a vehicle, they can still attend church functions, restaurants, movies, they can do things of that nature and we just continue to follow them closely during the pregnancy to see if we need to restrict that anymore. But like I said, we don’t want the women feeling house- confined or bedridden just because they have a multiple gestation.
