Kimberley: Welcome to the Pilates on fifth ultimatepilatesworkouts.com video podcast. I’m Kimberley. Katherine: I’m Katharine. Kimberley: Today’s exercise is Spine Twist with the exercise band. So, we’ll start sitting right upon the sit bones. Now if you’re client usually sits upon a pad and do have the leg straight in the hip flexors relax enough to get the pelvis neutral then you would do that as well. Today, we’re not doing it around actually there’s two ways, so we will do at that way and we will do it in another way. So, first we’ll do with the band around the scapula, so you want the band around the base of the scapula and your arm stretches out the sides, the legs are up stretched and the feet are flexed. We’re going to inhale and our spine is nice and neutral and exhale just take an nice exhale close in the ribs get the shoulders down, so that helps you getting a great starting position. Now we’ll inhale as we twist and lift, inhale twist and lift and twist and twist and exhale back to the center and to the right. And think your barbershop whole getting turned taller and back center. Now with the band as you keep going is sometimes the arms can get away from you or get away from your client, if you’re twisting you tend to do the arms more than the spine by having the band here and keeping the arms energized, scapula depressed and the lats engaged. You can keep the arms right inline of the tarsal, so the rams merely indicate what the spine is doing. This is the last one and that is spine twist with the round base of the scapula. The other way to do the spine twist with the exercise band is place it around the feet and then it’s easier, if you cross the band just to have a little more the angle of pull is better and as she twists to the left, bend the left elbow, twist the right bend the right elbow so here we go. Inhale bend and twist and twist and exhale top to center and twist to the right. Notice she is not letting the ribs pop and exhale top of your center; one more time each way, and twist and further and further tall, if your center ribs are close and last inhale, inhale, inhale-exhale close everything and relax down. So that is a spine twist with the exercise bend.
