I had a pars L5 fracture and Dr. Raiszadeh performed an L5-S1 fusion. I knew that my back would hurt but I didn’t realize that my abdomen would hurt that all the muscles in my back would hurt. They were amazed in controlling the pain in the hospital and once I’ve got home, the oral pain meds that I was taking were great and I definitely would recommend following what the doctor says to the take the pain meds. I thought that I was strong couple days postop after I was home and I thought I could try win myself off, that I didn’t need them was not the case. I ended up needing pain meds for at least two months, a good two months. And if anyone is concerned about taking the pain meds or being addicted to the pain meds, your body kind of tells you when you don’t need them, shorter or longer for some people but you really do need them.
