Slimming Recipes Better Audra: The summer is right around the corner everybody is looking for the best ways to trim calories and the waistline at the same time so celebrity nutritionist and chef Christine Avanti is here and she’s going to show us some summer slimming snacks that are really simple to prepare and they taste great. Good to have you back Christine. Christine: Thank you Audra. Audra: And before we get to that we have to mention to you Christine is not only a Celebrity Chef. You lost 30 pounds. We’re going to look at before a photo of you. You lost 30 pounds like you said you left it and I kept it off right? Christine: That’s right. Audra: Just been doing things like this like you’re showing other people how to do. Christine: Yea, eating meals that are high in flavor but are low in calories using good ingredients that really make the food pop. Audra: Okay and the meals that you have here today are all gluten-free and they take about 10 minutes is that right? Christine: Yes, yeah and its’ not that I’m all about everything gluten-free but gluten free is a very hot new trend and a lot of my clients in Hollywood are wanting to have me prepare meals and give the meal plans that are gluten free. It kind of reduces bloating and people just feel better and lighter on a gluten free plan. Audra: Yeah. So if you’re not celebrity these re good for you too? Christine: Yes. Audra: Nobody wants to feel that way. Now the first meal that you’re going to make over here is called Santorini Lemon Dip. Christine: Yeah it’s called Santorini Lemon Dip. Audra: Okay. Christine: Really quick we’ve got a little bit of minced garlic and some cannellini beans, cannellini beans are great because they’re high in fiber and you got some protein for that’s going to help a stabilizing blood sugar. I’ve got some fresh parsley you just want to do a little bit of parsley and then some fresh oregano and oregano is great because it reduces the bad bacteria in our GI tract. Audra: Wow I didn’t know that, okay. Christine: Who knew, this we got some lemon juice and some lemon zest. Don’t forget the lemon zest and then we’ve got some feta cheese and I actually made this a couple of weeks ago for Harry Winkler. Audra: Really. Christine: And his family and he loved it, he was like I love it can you do a less lemon and his wife was like. I want more lemon. Audra: There’s no cooking involved at all? Christine: No you just pulse it really quick here blow fast, blow and what we have is a gorgeous dip and then you just put cucumbers in there. Guess how many calories? Audra: How many? Christine: 70 calories. Audra: That’s it. Christine: Easy. And on top of that I see here it has a lot of fiber vitamin C protein so all around good for you. Great for stabilizing blood sugar, great for having a bikini body. Audra: I love it and now next we got the chips. Fire roasted salsa and skinny chips. Christine: Skinny chips it kind sounds like why kind of weird anyways I just basically took tortilla white corn tortillas in the grocery store you cut it into 8th pop it in the one about 400 degrees for about 12 to 15 minutes depending on your oven and I sprayed it with a little bit of vegetable oil spray that’s it. It’s like 100 of grams less of sodium in the home made chips and salsa and then this is tomattillos we just roasted the tomatillos some plum tomatoes some garlic and then is an Anaheim chili also called a California chili. It can have a little heat. Audra: I’m getting a little wilted here so. Christine: And you know one thing is because you might have a hard time finding a grocery store this is for the big long green chili. Audra: Okay. Christine: It’s not a jalapeno but it does have some heat so you just blend that in a blender. It takes like 30 seconds and you’re done you have fresh homemade chips and salsa. Audra: Okay. Christine: Calories are low, low in sodium, great for a barbecue or a party. Audra: Now you’re going to test me
