Female Speaker: What are some signs of a drinking problem? Gwendolyn Fancavillo: To determine if you have a drinking problem or friend of yours has a drinking problem, you want to see how drinking fits in to your or their lives. Are you able to remember everything that's happening when you're drinking? Are you using drinking as a tool to help you get through things? Are you using drinking to get away from things? Are you using alcohol for something else? So you really want to determine why you're drinking and if that's really making impact on the other parts of your life in your relationship. So are you still able to study and get good grades? Are you still able to have interactions with your friends and your family or are you going out and partying because you had a hard test and you're not remembering the next day what happened, or things are happening during those drinking periods that you don't really want to happen. And if so, you might want to reach out for some help such as counseling or AA groups on campus or in the area or just talking to a friend about how to decrease the drinking in your life.
