Dr. Gail Lebovic Director of Women’s Services for Cooper When a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer its very complicated set of events that occur and one of those issues will eventually meet with a surgeon. It’s important to meet with the surgeon who specializes in breast or who has take care of a lot of breast cancer patients so that they can determine exactly what type of surgery and other treatment might be necessary. Today, we are able to save the breast 50% of the time in women who are diagnosed with cancer which is great but that requires the skill of a surgeon who actually knows how much tissue to take out and whether or not its safe to save the breast.
