Melanie Raposo: Hi! Everybody I am Melanie Raposo and welcome to Mommy's Minute. If you are taking medication while breastfeeding here, are ways to check if the drug is safe to take. First, drugs that are commonly for infants are normally safe to take. Many injected drugs are not absorbed from the stomach or intestines making them also, safe to take while breastfeeding. Medications that are applied to the skin, inhale through the nose or applied to the eyes are also safe. Remember to talk to your physician before changing any medications and be sure to review the benefits and risks before making any decisions.
